Mass Energy's Green Power Bootcamp 2016

May 23, 2016 @ 12:00 PM

Join Mass Energy at our Spring Green Power Bootcamp for a crash-course on how the green power market works and how to get to a greener grid faster!

Ever wonder about the many products that everyday consumers, or even entire municipalities, can choose in order to get their electricty from renewable energy? What are all the options? Which make the most impact within Massachusetts, or nationally? Most importantly, how and why does choosing green electricity make a difference... and when doesn't it?

This free workshop is a great way to get answers to these important questions. You will walk away with a clear, actionable plan to make the green electricity choice: for yourself, your organization, or with your community.

Topics include:

  • An introduction to our New England electric grid, how it works, and how renewable energy fits into the picture. Important subjects include:
    • Key players on the electric grid
    • How energy decisions for the grid get made (and by whom)
    • Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
  • An explanation of the renewable energy policy context in Massachusetts, including:
    • The Massachusetts Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard
    • The Massachusetts Global Warming Solutions Act
  • The role Mass Energy's green power programs - our model and our impact
  • The choices available to consumers
    • Competitive electricity suppliers
    • For-profit green powersuppliers
    • How to tell what's greenwashing and what's making a difference
  • Green municipal aggregation and its enormous potential to drive the development of renewable energy
Lunch and networking opportunities provided!

Although recommended for marketers, community organizers, and communications staff of environmental organizations or municipalities, our Bootcamp is open to anyone interested in sifting through the many choices that consumers now have for choosing green electricity or municipal aggregation. In addition, the workshop is essential training for talking to consumers about green power products.
